Need a chainsaw for the autumn – which one should you choose?

Are thinking about getting a chainsaw and do not know which model should you buy?
NAC is here to help!
This is a short overview of our product range, complete with tips on choosing the right tool.

While chainsaws see widespread industrial and commercial use, they are good home tools.
If you have land around your property, NAC chainsaws can help you with tending to trees and shrubs. They are small, portable and easy to use, with many models much alike and others very different from one another.
While the intended use is the same, cutting of branches and logs, each model is built for a specific set of conditions.

Typical of corded power tools, electric chainsaws are designed for use near a house, or at least where there is a mains outlet available. It makes sense to buy an extension cord several dozen metres long for safe and convenient use of the tool.

If you are not planning to work with the tool well away from the house, it makes little sense to buy a petrol chainsaw which requires more commitment, like more thorough cleaning and refuelling.
Note also that electric chainsaws from NAC and other brands are usually much more convenient in operation than their counterparts with internal combustion engines. An electric motor vibrates less, making control of the tool much easier.
The trade off, however, is lower nominal power; if you need to cut very thick trunks or branches, think twice about choosing which drive type would be better.
There is always a tradeoff.

A petrol chainsaw is a powerful cutting tool in the user’s hands.
This type of tool is small, yet it usually has immense horsepower and is very easy to carry around.
Do you have a piece of land away from home?
Put a petrol chainsaw into the trunk, no need to worry there is no power outlet on site.
No extension cord is required, tool.
The downside is that the operation will not be as easy as with an electric tool.

Weight is a considerable factor when it comes to petrol chainsaws.
Internal combustion engines are heavier than electric motors; consider also the weight of fuel in the tank.
There is more: a petrol chainsaw releases exhaust gas, it runs with higher noise than an electric chainsaw, and requires extra care, maintenance, and storage conditions to avoid frequent visits at a chainsaw service centre.

A NAC petrol chainsaw is a tool intended for more difficult working conditions.
It can be taken to places ‘off-grid’, and this makes the tool worth the money.

The second most important purchase criterion is the chainsaw’s power output.
Cutting thinner branches is where low-power petrol and electric models suffice; cutting of thick logs requires a more powerful motor or engine.
We did not mention logging in the middle of a forest; this type of work demands professional-grade chainsaws with much more power than the tools intended for small garden owners.

The operating comfort depends on the guide bar length and tool weight.
A short chainsaw for cutting branches is enough for trimming small shrubs and trees.
The longer the guide bar is, the easier it is to cut through branches that are thick or higher above the ground.
Take note of engine displacement, as it indicates how much fuel is required to run the tool.
Other factors important to users is the tool weight and sound level.
All these specifications are shown in product data sheets.

A chainsaw bought after considering your needs and the performance of all considered tools will let you do your gardening work easily, without any trouble, and for a good price of purchase.
Think before you buy!
